24/7 emergency water & fire damage response

A pipe bursts at 2 a.m., storm water pours into the basement, a kitchen fire fills the house with smoke. Blue Arrow answers every hour of every day, including holidays. Here’s what to do while our crew is on the way, and what happens when we arrive.

Your safety comes first

If there is fire, smoke, a gas smell, sparking or a sagging ceiling, get everyone out and call 911 or the gas utility first. Property can be restored; people cannot be replaced.

What you can do before we arrive

Water: burst pipe, leak or flood

  1. Shut off the main water valve, or the fixture’s own shut-off.
  2. Turn off power to affected rooms at the breaker panel if you can reach it from a dry spot.
  3. Photograph and video the damage and the source.
  4. Move electronics, documents, rugs and valuables to a dry area; lift furniture onto blocks or foil.
  5. Mop or blot small amounts of standing water; don’t use a household vacuum.
  6. Don’t turn on ceiling fixtures under a wet ceiling, and stay out from under sagging drywall.

Sewage backup

  1. Stop using water throughout the house.
  2. Keep children and pets out; don’t touch the water without gloves and boots.
  3. Turn off HVAC if returns are in the affected area.

After a fire

  1. Enter only when the fire department says it’s safe.
  2. Don’t wipe soot or turn on appliances; open windows only if weather permits.
  3. Remove pets, medications, documents and irreplaceable items if it’s safe to do so.

What happens when we arrive

  1. Safety walk-through: electrical, structural and contamination hazards.
  2. Stop the source: isolate the leak, cap the pipe or tarp the roof.
  3. Document: photos, moisture readings and notes that start your claim file.
  4. Extract and protect: remove standing water, protect contents, block furniture.
  5. Start drying: air movers, dehumidifiers and air scrubbers placed by calculation.
  6. Explain the plan: what comes next, how long it should take and what we need from you.
